Where is my data stored?

On your iPhone. Onyx keeps your habits in a local database on your device. There is no account and no server of ours that holds your data.

How does iCloud sync work?

Onyx syncs your habits to your own private iCloud account so they stay consistent across your Apple devices. It’s on by default with nothing to set up, and your data never goes to us or any third party. There’s no switch inside the app — sync is controlled from iOS Settings → your name → iCloud, where you can turn Onyx off to keep everything device-only.

What is a second chance?

A second chance lets you keep a streak alive when you miss a day — no reset, no guilt. They’re free for everyone, with no quota and nothing to spend. (You can’t use two on back-to-back days, so a streak still means something.) On Today, keep tapping a habit’s check to cycle to it, or tap a day on the recent strip or in a habit’s past dates.

What’s free, and what’s in Onyx Premium?

Unlimited habits, streaks, second chances, reminders, editing past dates, iCloud sync, the Today widget, and CSV import and export are free forever. Onyx Premium unlocks deeper Insights (lifetime and year-by-year history, plus all eight Highlights tiles in the app and on the Highlights widget), planned breaks, widget tap-to-complete, and all six accents and ten app icons, with a 14-day free trial.

Can I track a habit that isn’t daily?

Not in version 1.0 — Onyx is built for daily habits right now, and custom schedules such as three-times-a-week are the next feature up. You can still skip a day with a second chance or pause a habit with a planned break, but a habit you only intend to do some days will read as missed on the others.

What languages does Onyx speak?

Eight: English, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Arabic (including right-to-left layout), Brazilian Portuguese, and Simplified Chinese. Onyx follows your iPhone’s language automatically.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed through Apple. Open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your device to manage or cancel. You keep Premium until the end of your current billing period.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in to request one for your Onyx purchase.

Can I export or move my data?

Yes, both directions. Onyx exports your habits and history to a CSV file you can save or share anywhere, and it can import a CSV back in to merge an existing backup. Your data is yours. (Archived habits are left out of an export, so unarchive anything you want to keep before exporting.)

Can I record days from before I added the habit?

Yes — open the habit, tap any past day on its calendar, and mark it done. Backfilled days count toward your streak and fill in your momentum map, so switching from another tracker doesn’t cost you the history you already earned. Editing past dates is free on every plan.

Which devices does Onyx support?

Onyx is an iPhone app and requires iOS 17 or later.
